Euro 2012 tournament by Sofia Nomads
Date/Time
Date(s) – 23/06/2012
10:30 – 14:00
Location
Amik Stadium
Category(ies)
Dear members,
As many of us showed an interest for this “inter-nation” tournament, we are now making it real.
On June 23rd, in Amik, we will play an internal Euro2012 tournament.
All the teams will be chosen by the coach, according to :
- nationality (+ former colonies – i.e. Peru goes to Spain)
- spoken languages
- cultural (or sexual) affinities
You can of course submit a whole team proposal if you have such, but the final word will come to the coach, as we need to get balanced teams to make it more interesting.
This tournament is opened to friends also.
We strongly encourage you to invite any expat in Sofia to join this tournament, if they are a whole team or only individuals (we count on Chapolino to use his connections in Internations.org).
Any new member can create his account in the website and join this game.
The fee should not exceed 10 levas/person.
Use the comment form when signing up, for any extra information (bringing friends, availability…).
UPDATE : teams and schedule
Meeting in Amik at 10.15 AM – Don’t be late or your team will play without you (schedule is short).
Tournament will be played from 10.30 am to 2 pm.
Everybody will play the same number of games.
Every team has to collect 60 levas before starting.
UPDATE 2 :
Impossible to find bibs in Sofia. After spending 3 hours in 6 shops and 2 malls, I must accept that sports stores like Adidas or Nike DO NOT sell sporting goods, but only fashion goods.
So every player will bring 2 different shirts : please check what are your team colors !

This time, Nomads have a real chance to win a tournament !
Ardis31/05/2012 at 17:17
or cover in shame if we don’t lol
kris31/05/2012 at 17:19Author
as we could have guests, everything is possible…
Nick31/05/2012 at 19:21
unless biso invites his mates that is!
Biso26/06/2012 at 20:13
And they didn’t again
DDD ahahah
Paul Manager31/05/2012 at 17:15
Bravo
kris31/05/2012 at 17:18Author
No need to mention that :
- we play 6 vs 6
- if you drop out in the last minute, you will play with Ardis and La Bomba every Wednesday for 24 months !
Paul Manager31/05/2012 at 17:19
I think, as provisional teams, we can be aiming for:
German-Austro Hungarian empire
The British Empire + whatever we can pillage globally
France, Belgium + colonies (Africa..hm..)
Spain + Latin America (possibly joined with Italy)
Bulgaria
kris31/05/2012 at 17:25Author
Sounds good.
I think we have a complete italian team with Alessandro, Leo + his cousin, La Bomba, Angelo, Dario, Andrea if he dares to remember us one day…
Nick31/05/2012 at 19:24
I have a friend from the Falklands so i guess he could play with the British empire team or maybe the latino team if Argentina invade and kick us of the island? Oh hang on sheep cant play so forget that!
Paul Manager31/05/2012 at 17:32
Yeah, OK.
Lennart Just Hansen31/05/2012 at 17:51
I plan to put together a Danish/Dutch/Scandinavian team (the Scandihooligans)… Will try to get the players together and will let you know…
Otherwise we just bring the English guys into our team as we used to own their asses back in the viking days…
kris31/05/2012 at 18:11Author
ahah good one !
Nick31/05/2012 at 19:30
Yes we were a good looking race till your guys raped our women! Even my hometown of Scarborough is named after a viking king
Those days are long gone but at least you can still be proud of your bacon and i think a Danish guy won the worlds strongest man competition recently until they found out it was really a women!
Lennart Just Hansen31/05/2012 at 22:35
what?? he was more than one woman??
Drago01/06/2012 at 10:18
What about any canadians – split between French team and England team? haha
Pity there is no fans of lady gaga team
Kevin01/06/2012 at 11:33
English team is guaranteed to lose on penalties to the Germans in the semi-final – unless of course we have a Russian linesman
nick01/06/2012 at 14:46
Or the German team play as Bayern Munich and include a Dutch wimp who bottles it!
Schatti14/06/2012 at 11:36
kris01/06/2012 at 21:25Author
Allez les français, on se réveille un peu là !! Venez me rejoindre !
Nick02/06/2012 at 16:24
Biso doesn’t look very happy about being alongside Dario and his thong on the photo at the top!
Paul Manager04/06/2012 at 09:14
English team won’t meet the mannschaft in the semi finals, I guarantee “fate” will not arrange the draw that way…
Paul05/06/2012 at 16:22
We probably need a bit longer than 2 hours to get this done. Recommend 2 groups of 3 or 4 teams. 20min games, each team to play 3-5 times. I think we’ll need 3 hours total.
Paul07/06/2012 at 16:33
We need some captains nominated here to see how many people we have, and how many teams.
I hear Germany is quite depleted, so unless this changes, perhaps join with France?
Suggest the following as captains.
Brit: Kevin/Paul Wright
Iberic: Sergio
Italian: Angelo
Bulgaria: Svetlomir
Scandi: Lennart
France + Germany: Kris
Start recruiting!
In the last week I will balance the teams by assigning some honorary Bulgarians to each squad.
Svetlomir11/06/2012 at 10:42
Ok I will do Bulgaria team. If more players sign for the game we can make second them, or to assign them to another teams.. But so far here os the selection (with 2 subs included):
Republic of Bulgaria:
1. Rado
2. Biso
3. Svetlomir
4. Ardis
5. Drago
6. Toncho
7. Svilen
8. Vesko la Bomba
I guess Stefan and Assen will play with German-Osterreich team? If not I will be glad to have them in our team!
Biso11/06/2012 at 11:47
I’ll do my best to get my ankle well for the tournament. I can be the coach for now
DD and if my ankle is getting better will try to play.
kris11/06/2012 at 12:37Author
Hello Nomads,
As we have many bulgarian players, I think it would be fair to move the ones with affinities to some countries in their “adoptive nation”.
i.e. : Rado > Spain
Assen, Stefan > Germany/Austria
Vesko > Italy
Biso > France…
No offense Svetlomir, but I think this will be more attractive to keep some language/cultural affinities to make the teams. This was the main point with this tournament.
You will have the opportunity to make friends teams for another tournament maybe.
So far, I can see 25 registered players. That means 4 teams :
1/ Bulgaria
2/ Italy (they can gather 6 players)
3/ Nothern Europe (English + Lennart + every country above Switzerland)
4/ Southern Europe (France, Spain, Albania…)
If we gather 5 more players, we can make another team.
We have a guest team that confirmed playing this tournament : Bulgarian players from team BELOMORETS (Grigor’s friends).
We will play on 2 pitches of course.
Keep sharing and inviting friends, we need to make this event popular and find new members for the next season.
Thank you.
iveselsi11/06/2012 at 13:04
I’m so sorry boys but I can’t make it for thi weekend… enjoy the game and 10€ per Italia team. Forza Azzuri!

kris11/06/2012 at 13:05Author
10 dinars you mean
Schatti14/06/2012 at 11:38
10 minutes he mean
Angelo11/06/2012 at 13:21
ITALIAN TEAM
Andrea, Angelo, Dario, Domenico.
We still wait, Alessandro, Leo and the cousin -100% italian,
Sub. 1 La Bomba 50% Italian
Sub. 2 Chapolino 50% enought crazy for us standard.
(we can sell Chapo for 100 beers and 2 body massage or best offer)
Anton11/06/2012 at 15:53
I am almost ready to sell my soul to the British Empire, since they really suffer well here in Bulgaria
Drago11/06/2012 at 16:47
I am aware of witnesses who can confirm that Lennart likes kebabche most of all – this makes him a proper Bulgarian, so he may play for the BG team
Lennart Just Hansen12/06/2012 at 20:31
I have a full Danish team, spiced up with one dutch guy (not that they are any good at football), and maybe a swede… So don’t worry about us, the Scandihooligans are ready to fight for the trophy
kris12/06/2012 at 20:51Author
Lennart, are you really bringing your own team, or is it a joke ?
We need to know exactly how many teams we have to manage.
Please answer seriously.
kris13/06/2012 at 11:06Author
ok I got an answer through Skype.
We have another guest team : “Denmark and Friends”
Svetlomir13/06/2012 at 11:58
Well, .. after some successful transfers made from Bulgaria team, here is the final version:
1. Toncho (transfer to England failed in last minute due to medical tests)
2. Drago (will stay one more season with us to increase his price)
3. Ardis (no one can afford his signing fee)
4. Svilen (there are roumors that some foreign clubs are after him)
5. Svetoslav Panev ( he is definitely in our plans to win the tournament)
6. Svetlomir
sub.1
sub.2
We are in secret negotiations to bring some more valuable players to our team..
Last minute transfers:
1. Vesko La Bomba – Italy (Angelo we expect at least bottle of italian wine for our top goalscorer)
2. Assen and Stefan goes to Deutschland/Osterreich manshaft as part of post WorldWar II reparation
3. Biso – France (as a free agent, because his injury)
4. Rado – Spain (as a exchange deal for Torres and Casillias)
kris13/06/2012 at 19:00Author
thank you Svetlio.
So far we have 7 teams, and we ll reach probably 8.
I prepared a schedule that I will publish later, we need 3 hours on 2 pitches.
I got the confirmation from Amik for these 2 pitches (one of the pitch will be partly covered, good for shadow).
FIRST GAME WILL START AT 10.30 AM
We still need 4 players to make 8 teams : invite your friends !
Schatti14/06/2012 at 11:26
Dear friends,
if you don’t might, I’ll try to organize a Team Germany…
kris14/06/2012 at 11:32Author
If you get enough german speaker players, welcome ! But please do it ASAP because we need to know how to handle the remaining players.
Schatti14/06/2012 at 11:39
ok, will let you know soon…
Schatti15/06/2012 at 13:28
Hi Kris,
I’ll have a own team ( German speaking guys )
Cheers
Svilen Georgiev15/06/2012 at 14:26
Indeed, some foreign clubs are after me (I won’t mention their names) but I had to turn down Sir Alex and a guy called Tito Villanova, as for me Bulgaria is above everything else!!! (is that enough exclamation marks?)
Schatti18/06/2012 at 08:38
Assen plays for us…:-)
Angelo18/06/2012 at 10:56
ITALIAN TEAM
Andrea, Angelo, Dario, Domenico, Alessio, La Bomba.
I received a big offer for Chapolino (it’s a secret … ), but if we have one more, will be a pleasure to have the best goalkeeper in Sofia
Paul Manager18/06/2012 at 11:19
So 6 teams then. perfect:
BG 1
BG 2 (Grigors)
ITA
“PIGS” (Southern Europe)
Scandihooligans
Northern Europe (Eng, Germany…wow)
kris18/06/2012 at 11:55Author
I started preparing the teams, following all the comments and messages I received. Now we just need 1 more player and we have 8 teams. Shah told me that he will try to invite a friend, it should be ok then.
Please NO DROP OUT because we are 6 per team !
iveselsi18/06/2012 at 12:32
Great tournament boys… enjoy the weekend with a lot of football and beer. Do not forget to be good guys and play fair, please!
Forza Italia… 10 € for la scuadra azzura!
Up Nomads
Kevin18/06/2012 at 12:47
I may have to drop out, doctors orders, turns out my knees are older than Nick! I’ll see if I have any pain Thursday and make a final decision then.
Kevin18/06/2012 at 14:37
Hang on, I can still play goalie if I must, so I’m in! Just don’t tell the doc.
nick18/06/2012 at 18:29
So your knees were born 20 years before you Kev!!??
I may also have to play in goal as my ankle is still like putty!!
kris18/06/2012 at 14:48Author
ok cool Kev, nice spirit.
Teams and schedule are published. Of course it is probably going to change because some people will not accept to play with some others, and they will suddenly get sick…
And maybe some last minute players as usual.
Keep in mind this is not the real Euro tournament, and we are playing for fun !
I will try to find some cheap bibs because we have several teams with the same colors. If someone can bring some, please mention it.
Paul Manager18/06/2012 at 16:09
Bravo kris!
Italy – Spain….
France – England….
Just like the real thing!
Anton18/06/2012 at 17:03
Sorry lads but I can’t play and have to drop off
Svetlomir19/06/2012 at 08:43
Ok, Toncho is our Berbatov!
He snubs the National team and will concentrate on his play in Man utd.. or Elevation party?
Now seriously.. I can’t play either after Monday game.. I have pulled my muscle and first signs are not good. Anyway I will be there to support the team, but will try urgently to get 2 new players..
Anton20/06/2012 at 09:53
Grande Svetlyo
Personally will just need some nice and cosy dedicated spot on the bench and my “Play like Berbatov” style is accomplished
Stefan19/06/2012 at 10:26
I am not sure if Biso can play, because he is injured
Drago19/06/2012 at 10:35
I will bring the yellow kits for saturday. And this time someone else should take them. Any volunteers or I shall pick.
kris19/06/2012 at 14:01Author
Italians will play with them, so one of them will do it
Schatti19/06/2012 at 13:52
Kris,
have you forgotten Team Diplomats?
kris19/06/2012 at 14:00Author
No, I told you by SMS that we are already 8 teams, which is the limit. Misunderstood ?
Schatti20/06/2012 at 08:46
yes..
Nick19/06/2012 at 18:12
Can we ask Scatti to bring 2 diplomats for the English team as paul is away and both myself and Paul are carrying injuries……i doubt i can play out of goal…might even struggle in goal……please confirm tnx.
kris19/06/2012 at 20:14Author
You already have Shah’s friend.
If you need more players, please wait for Bulgaria and France to be complete first. Then you will arrange your British dramas.
Gracias !
nick20/06/2012 at 01:41
yes but we still have myself and Kevin who may not be able to play….so no probs its only a bit of fun and we can still win with 4 players and two limpers. You just sort out the best tean=m possible for France and Bulgaria as its your only hope as you are screwed in the real thing! We need some extra players or there wont be a team so hopefully we can sort something out. Or maybe we can borrow oneof your guys…maybe Emrah?
Angelo19/06/2012 at 21:18
I am proud to be italian and ours team is ITALY (point !).
Of course if you want to eat better, than potatoes with sirene, you can start with pizza, pasta, wine, coffee, tiramisu’ etc etc. … slowly, slowly may be you can understand ours lifestyle.
nick20/06/2012 at 01:45
Well done on getting knocked out in the quarter final Angelo. England are not so good but Italy are not so average haha!
ANDREATHEBEST20/06/2012 at 09:55
Italian team with yellow and red t-shirt…who is the genius who chose the colors??
kris20/06/2012 at 09:59Author
baba ti !
sergio20/06/2012 at 11:12
I will bring 3 spaniards more for la ROJA!
Drago20/06/2012 at 14:32
Then Bulgaria can take back Rado, as we need 2 more to make the team after SvPanev is out and Svetlomir is injured? And maybe Assen also?
kris20/06/2012 at 14:34Author
Mercato !
JohnA20/06/2012 at 13:06
Can someone please change England to Team GB, or I will never be able to show my face past the border again!
nick20/06/2012 at 19:02
No
svpanev20/06/2012 at 13:31
I cannot come on Saturday! Please, Bulgarian Team remove me from the list. Sorry!
Anton20/06/2012 at 13:57
Back again B-)
Paul Manager20/06/2012 at 13:59
Eddie McMahon will join the England team.
sergio20/06/2012 at 14:43
Rado is not in the market…well depends the offer. Maybe for one Banitza and one Boza
rado20/06/2012 at 16:39
Sergio, better have something to eat, otherwise you are about to sell all the team for banitza, shopska salata, kebapcheta i kufteta:):)
p.s. I want to play for ” Spain”. I see Toncho is back is back in the game for BG team
Stefan21/06/2012 at 10:44

Drago21/06/2012 at 12:09
Svetlomir may be injured but this cannot prevent him from being the captain of the BG team! We still need 2 more players – at least.
Svilen21/06/2012 at 17:11
Guys, I know the program and team lists are complete but… just two small suggestions:
1. Come on, Bulgarians, our team is short on players and you are playing for foreign countries?! Where’s your national spirit;) Join us!!!:)
2. (Seriously) Don’t you think it will be better to play both matches of a group simultaneously? Then the other group playes its two matches and so on. This way all teams will have 15 minutes of rest between matches. As it is now, some teams are playing two back-to-back games and others have big breaks between games. I think the other way will be more balanced and fair. Just an example – in EURO 2012 both games in a group are played in the same day, not on different days.
Svilen21/06/2012 at 17:23
OK, I found one more player for the Bulgarian team – Jivko. I’ve brought him to a couple of Nomad games in the past.
kris21/06/2012 at 18:34Author
thanks
nick21/06/2012 at 19:14
I’m bringing down Derek from USA for the English team as i’m still struggling and Kev might have to take it easy with his knee. Derek is interested in joining the Nomads.
Nick21/06/2012 at 22:54
Great photos on team pics but Prince Charles is married to a horse who’s head even the mafia wouldn’t use as scare tactics. Can we please have Jonny Rotten as our pic…or even Gazza in tears in 1990. The French head butt is the best by far.
Drago22/06/2012 at 12:01
I thought it was a different animal – camel?
Drago22/06/2012 at 08:40
I have got one more player for Bulgaria team – Vladi. He has been a member for some time before.
JohnA22/06/2012 at 19:54
Can I please have (Scotland) after my name like Derek (USA) and Eddie (Morocco)? Symbolic, I know, but it will make me feel better
nick22/06/2012 at 20:48
Would you like some Scottish Pipers to play a tune b4 the tournament…and maybe a bowl of porridge to keep you cool too? We can even ask Sean Connery to endorse your involvement maybe Bonny Prince Jonny?
